Suleman Ernest Rogers--commonly known as Rogie in his native Sierra Leone--died at 68, shortly after the release of this album. First international hit was 'My Lovely Elizabeth', which sold well across the borders of Sierra Leone in the 1960s. Also received air play in Europe and America. Rogie was--is, even in death--the best exponent of Palm Wine music, a nonchalant style that speaks of a heart open to all human emotions.
